Is a classroom course that fulfills the 8-hour EMSA child care training in pediatric first aid, CPR, and AED. As an American Heart Association program, it meets part of California EMSA regulatory requirements for child care personnel. Participants learn how to recognize, respond to, and manage illnesses and injuries in infants and children during the crucial first minutes until EMS arrives.
What’s covered: the four steps of pediatric first aid; CPR and AED use for adults, children, and infants; how to assist a choking adult/child/infant; asthma care; common illnesses and injuries; a child/infant safety checklist; and guidance on child behavior and effective interaction.
